Robeson knew both hardship and the determination to rise above it.

He rose to prominence in a time when segregation was legal in the US and became an advocate for the civil rights of people around the world.

Born on April 9, 1898, in Princeton, New Jersey, Paul Robeson was educated at Rutgers College and Columbia University.

He later became active in the Civil Rights Movement and was also a figure in the Harlem Renaissance.

Robeson’s talents made him a revered man of his time. 

Despite the challenges he faced, he rose to become one of the greatest Americans of the twentieth century.

Paul Robeson died on January 23, 1976, at age 77, in Philadelphia, leaving behind a legacy of achievement.
