The Mindset of Success

Staying motivated, staying happy and becoming successful are all trending topics in society; as they should be. There’s no getting around it. In in my own life, as well in the lives of all the people, families and children I work with there seem to be 4 major and non-negotiable things that we MUST have, to make our dreams real.

4 Keys to Success: The Formula To Make Your Dreams Real

Hope.

Faith. Belief. Optimism. A Vision. We must have an unwavering belief that it is possible and that it will work out. Being hopeful is what will separate you from your daily problems or concerns, regardless of how minor or major they may be. Do something everyday that gives you more hope. Do something everyday that gives someone else hope.

Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.”  –Helen Keller

Confidence.

Courage. Self Image. All play a part in how you see yourself and what you believe you are capable of doing. Have the confidence to say, “I belong here!”, “I deserve this”, “I must do this”. When we are confident our focus is on what needs to be done and not on what the obstacles are. Be brave. See the obstacles and plan accordingly, but don’t ever let the challenges become the focus. You and your ability to achieve and contribute will always be the empowering focal point. Believe. Make it happen.

We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face… we must do that which we think we cannot.” –Eleanor Roosevelt

Patience.

Most people quit right before they are about to have a break-through or succeed. Most people let go at the first sign of struggle. Most people are only interested in instant results. Your dreams don’t work like that. It’s easy to get caught up on how far we have left to go but it is much more empowering to focus on our progress.  Stay patient. Your dreams are with you for the long haul. Your seeds need time.

Patience is necessary, and one cannot reap immediately where one has sown.” –Soren Kierkegaard

Flexibility.

I once heard Tony Robbins say, “Be committed to your result but flexible in your approach.” If one strategy isn’t working, try something else, ask someone, do research – learn. Dedicate yourself to an outcome but be flexible in how you get there. In my own personal life this has been true. I have always wanted to become debt-free and travel the world – I never knew I would reach those goals by deciding to teach abroad; save money, travel and make a difference.

I am a man of fixed and unbending principles, the first of which is to be flexible at all times.Everett Dirksen

What else would you add? Or take away?

As always,  I hope this helps. Feel free to share this with your family, friends and colleagues.

All the best,
